Blame it on your demanding boss or your many personal problems, there are many more people today who are experiencing panic attacks. And given the very fierce and competitive world we have right now, there’s no wonder to that.

During the early 1900s, panic attacks were virtually unheard of. It’s either people who experience it do not come forward and those who did were often ridiculed and called crazy. Really, the medical community back then considered panic attacks as an imaginary condition.

But today, we all know better. Science has fully recognized this condition and a lot of studies are dedicated to fully understand it and how it can be cured.

Panic attack is a condition where a person experiences intense fear. This fear is brought about by many different and unique factors. Every person has a different reason for having these attacks.

Now, panic attacks happen in a relatively brief time- usually about 10 minutes. And it’s not something that you always have- thus, the term “attacks” since it really happens periodically.

Many people characterize having a panic attack as the “the most intensely frightening, upsetting and uncomfortable experiences of a person’s life and may take days to initially recover from.”

Panic attacks can also develop from a condition to a syndrome. This is called panic disorder. This is when panic attacks are repeatedly and frequently happening and this would call for a formal diagnosis from a doctor.

Causes of Panic Attacks

As mentioned earlier, panic attacks can be brought out by many factors. It could be as simple as your first day of working and you happen to be working in a very prestigious Singapore SEO Company. Or it could be as complicated as a traumatic childhood.

But there are generally three big causes of panic attacks.

  1. Hereditary

Panic disorder has been discovered to be hereditary and it is highly possible to run in families. This means that if a member of your immediate family has had it, there is a chance that you will suffer from it. Although the rate of its possibility is not known yet.

However, there are some people who have panic attacks but no one else in their family has it. The onset of panic disorder usually occurs in early adulthood, although it may appear at any age.

  1. Biological

There are many biological things that could cause your panic attacks. Some of those would include: obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism, Wilson’s disease, mitral valve prolapse, pheochromocytoma, autism spectrum disorders and inner ear disturbances.

  1. Phobias

Of course, since panic attacks are brought about by fear, when you have a phobia, the chances of having a panic attack is very high when you are exposed to that certain phobia.
